| Lyon, Capital of Gauls, city of Art and History Could the city of Lyon find a better sponsor than UNESCO that classified its historic medieval town center as a world heritage ?
Even for the Gauls before, and obviously France today, the location of the city has always been strategic. Just like what the Romans had done in the past, Napoleon was very close to establish Lyon as capital of France too. The city has an extremly rich history with more than 2500 years of continuous occupation. Take time to visit the Gallo-Roman Museum, the roman theater, the "traboules" and let you guide on the steps of the revolt of canuts or the WWII resistance network....there's so much to learn ! |
| December 8th - Lyon, "Ville lumière" If there's one event, one date you cannot afford to miss in Lyon, it is December 8th. The whole city is illuminated by millions of candles put in front of the windows or on balconies. Giant son et lumière spectacles may be found throughout the city where more than 4 millions visitors gather.
The reasons why such a giant event is organised since more than 150 years are to be sought halfway between reality and legend....
